We believe that we refuse a lower proportion of claims than any other Short Term Income Protection Provider in the UK. In fact the number of claims that we turn down is such a small percentage that we are pleased to publish these results. If you can find another STIP/ASU/PPI provider with better results, please tell us. You may be surprised to learn that many providers will not give you this information.
We are proud to confirm that the percentage of claims we have refused in the last three years are as follows:
|Claims refused, as a percentage of all claims notified||8.66%||4.55%||8.53%||6.48%|
|Breakdown of claims refused|
|Trying to claim for an uninsured event – claiming for Sickness on a Redundancy policy||40%|
|Still within Initial Exclusion Period – normally 30 or 60 days from the cover start date||17%|
|Sickness claim as a result of a Pre-Existing Condition specifically excluded on the Client’s Certificate||16%|
The only reason for your Client buying insurance is for the claims service, so why not ask other PPI/ASU/STIP providers what percentage of claims they refused last year.
It is the very simplest of calculations, just the number of claims refused, expressed as a percentage of all claims notified by Clients, or all claim forms requested, whichever is the larger.
The only other provider claims information we have been able to find can be seen at www.thesource.co.uk/insurance-mppi-claims-ratio/ If you have information on any other providers, please share it with us.
